This adjuster’s guide was compiled by a committee comprised of representatives of various components of Mississippi’s workers’ compensation community and represents a collaborative effort designed to provide those responsible for handling claims with an outline that will facilitate appropriate claims handling. It is intended to only be a summary that includes the basic provisions of the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Law, and it does not attempt to cover every issue that might be encountered in the handling of claims or to be a substitute for competent legal advice. This guide is not an official publication of the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission and since cases are usually fact intensive and the law is continually evolving, it should not be construed as the Commission’s official pronouncement of the law on any issue.
